About WeatherVision
WeatherVision was founded in 1985 as a radio service, then invented American television's first localized outsourced weathercast service in 1990 as National Weather Network. Local custom TV weathercast inserts with on air meteorologists delivered via satellite had never been attempted before, but the service soon found a home over the years with hundreds of network, independent and public stations across the country. The name was changed to WeatherVision during conversations in 1998 with CBS Television Network, between then CBS Chief Financial Officer, Fred Reynolds and founder Edward Saint Pe'. At Reynolds office at CBS headquarters at Black Rock during acquisition discussions, Reynolds thought a new name was in order, Saint Pe' found the WeatherVision domain was available. Reynolds liked it, and thus the company became WeatherVision. During the late 90's WeatherVision also became the first weathercast production company in American broadcasting to deliver online custom television weathercasts with meteorologists to this new industry, as they produced weathercasts for the top 100 broadcast DMA's daily for Marc Cuban's broadcast.com. Today WeatherVision is still in the lead position as the best outsourced television weathercasting company in the United States, serving affiliates in over 100 markets daily. |
